Will Ferrell Isn't Died, Nor Does He Paragliding

As hoaxes go, Tuesday's press release which purported to announce a fatal paragliding accident involving Ferrell wasn't a terribly convincing one

AceShowbiz -

"Los Angeles -- Actor Will Ferrell accidentally died in a freak paragliding accident yesterday in Torey Pines, Southern California." A press release put on March 14th on i-Newswire, a free online press release distribution service, read.

Shocking of course to hear such news. In fact, the Tuesday's press release was later on proven untrue, judging from its glaring errors of the spelling, mathematical and factual kind.

"Not much to say other than we heard and read about it this morning and reacted accordingly," Ferrell's publicist Matthew Labov said in an email on the related report. "...There was no point in trying to track [the source] down as it was obviously a hoax."

And responding to the phone calls asking for confirmation on Ferrell's death, Labov released standard response saying "Ferrell, 38, son of Kay and Lee Ferrell, graduate of the University of Southern California, is "alive and well, and filming a movie in Montreal."
