Tying tight with "Syriana" for the University of Southern California's 18th annual Scripter Award, which honors the year's best film adaptation of a book, novella or short story, "Capote" finally comes up as the winner.
The drama movie, based on a book written by Gerald Clarke which stayed on the New York Times best-seller list for 13 weeks, beat off the other finalists, including "Brokeback Mountain", "The Constant Gardener", and "A History of Violence."
Thus, Dan Futterman who has adapted the book for the screen and Clarke are set to be handed the honor at the Scripter Award ceremony, a black-tie gala held February 11 at the Edward L. Doheny Jr. Memorial Library on the USC campus in Los Angeles.
