Irish band U2 has gained claim as world's most important rock band, when the quartet was inducted Monday March 14, 2005 night into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Together with Bruce Springsteen, who admires U2 as "the keeper of some of the most beautiful sonic architecture in rock 'n' roll," Bono sang Until the End of the World, Pride (In the Name of Love), and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
The ceremony held at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the annual Hall of Fame dinner party/concert also featured The Pretenders, The O'Jays, Percy Sledge and blues legend Buddy Guy, all of whom received keys to rock's exclusive club. Back stage Bono commented on rumors he's on the short list to run the World Bank saying he "has had the best life anyone's ever been given just being in a rock 'n roll band."
