In the fleeting span of five minutes, "Something Real" captures the profound disconnection of the digital age. The film centers on a young woman, portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy, whose life is meticulously curated for social media, a performance of happiness that has left her feeling utterly hollow. Her world is a series of filtered images and empty interactions, until a sudden, unexpected glitch in her perfectly constructed reality forces a confrontation with the life happening just beyond the screen. This intimate character study, directed by Robert Eggers, unfolds as a tense and visually striking drama, exploring the central conflict between the persona we project and the authentic self we bury. As the line between her online facade and her true emotions begins to fracture, she is compelled to question everything she has built, embarking on a urgent, internal quest to reclaim a sense of genuine feeling before the moment, and perhaps her chance at real connection, slips away forever.
