In the sun-drenched, privilege-soaked world of Malibu, Brad "B-Rad" Gluckman, played by Jamie Kennedy, is a wealthy white rapper wannabe who has fully embraced the hip-hop lifestyle, much to the chagrin of his political father, played by Ryan O'Neal. Desperate to save his son from embarrassing him during a crucial campaign for governor, the father hires two struggling actors, portrayed by Anthony Anderson and Taye Diggs, to stage a fake kidnapping. The plan is to scare B-Rad straight by taking him on a harrowing journey through the rough streets of South Central Los Angeles. However, B-Rad’s blissful ignorance and unwavering commitment to his persona turn every attempt at intimidation into a comedic disaster. This fish-out-of-water comedy, directed by John Whitesell, gleefully satirizes racial stereotypes and cultural appropriation as the clueless would-be gangsta bumbles his way through a world he only thinks he understands. With a supporting cast including Regina Hall and Blair Underwood, the film delivers a lighthearted, 86-minute romp that questions whether a suburbanite can ever truly be "street."
