Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius
For some athletes, the ultimate win comes through a stroke of luck, but for Robert Tyre Jones, Jr., "Bobby Jones," it ...
In David Robert Mitchell's chilling horror film, a terrifying and relentless curse is passed through intimate encounters, transforming a simple sexual act into a death sentence. Nineteen-year-old Jay, portrayed with gripping vulnerability by Maika Monroe, finds herself the latest target of this supernatural entity after a seemingly innocent date with her new boyfriend, Hugh (Jake Weary). The entity, a shape-shifting stalker that can appear as anyone, is invisible to all but its victim, walking slowly but constantly toward her, never stopping, never tiring. If it catches her, she dies; the only way to pass the curse is to sleep with someone else, condemning them to the same fate. As Jay grapples with this horrifying reality, she turns to her friends, including her sister Kelly (Lili Sepe), neighbor Paul (Keir Gilchrist), and Yara (Olivia Luccardi), who struggle to believe her story. The film masterfully builds an atmosphere of dread and paranoia, transforming everyday suburban settings into landscapes of terror. Jay must decide how far she is willing to go to survive, confronting not only the monster but the moral weight of her own choices in this deeply unsettling and original take on the horror genre.
