In this clever and comedic modern-day riff on Mark Twain's classic tales, childhood friends Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer are all grown up, but their dreams of adventure have curdled into small-time criminal schemes. Kyle Gallner stars as the earnest but perpetually unlucky Huck, fresh out of prison and trying to go straight, only to be pulled back into a life of mischief by his charismatic but hopelessly romantic best friend, Tom, played by co-director Adam Nee. Tom is obsessed with finding the fabled treasure of Injun Joe, a quest he treats with the gravity of a grand heist, recruiting a hapless "band of robbers" that includes the nervous Joe Harper (Matthew Gray Gubler) and the perpetually bewildered Ben Rogers (Hannibal Buress). Their bumbling quest for fortune quickly spirals out of control, pitting them against a determined police detective (Stephen Lang) and a pair of genuinely dangerous criminals.
