ODESZA emerged from the vibrant Pacific Northwest music scene to become one of the most influential electronic acts of their generation. The American duo, formed in Seattle, Washington in 2012, carved a distinct path with their lush, cinematic soundscapes that blended electronica with indie sensibilities, ultimately achieving widespread critical and commercial success. Their journey from university students to headlining major festivals is a testament to their melodic craftsmanship and immersive live productions.

The group originated as a creative project between Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, who met while attending Western Washington University. What began as a casual endeavor quickly gained momentum with the self-release of their debut album, "Summer's Gone," in 2012. The record's warm, textured beats and sample-heavy compositions captured immediate attention online, establishing their signature sound. They followed this with the "My Friends Never Die" EP in 2013, further solidifying their growing fanbase and leading to their signing with the Counter Records label.

The duo's claim to fame arrived with their sophomore album, "In Return," released in September 2014. This breakthrough project refined their style, incorporating more vocal features and achieving a perfect balance between introspection and dance-floor energy. Singles like "Say My Name," featuring Zyra, and "Sun Models," featuring Madelyn Grant, became anthems, propelling the album to significant chart success. "In Return" was certified Gold in the United States and received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, marking their arrival on the global stage.

Building on this momentum, ODESZA released their third studio album, "A Moment Apart," in 2017. The record represented their most ambitious work to date, earning them their first Grammy win for Best Dance/Electronic Album and spawning the hit single "Line of Sight" featuring WYNNE and Mansionair. Their reputation for spectacular live shows grew exponentially, leading to sold-out world tours and headline slots at premier festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza. In 2022, they returned with the album "The Last Goodbye," which debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and featured collaborations with artists like Bettye LaVette and Ólafur Arnalds.

Beyond their own recordings, Mills and Knight founded the Foreign Family Collective label and artist collective, nurturing like-minded talent and extending their creative influence. They also contributed music to major film trailers and commercials, expanding their cinematic sound into new visual mediums. ODESZA continues to evolve, maintaining a powerful connection with their audience through meticulously crafted albums and a live experience renowned for its stunning visual design and emotional resonance, securing their place as pillars of modern electronic music.
