Marlon Roudette
Marlon Roudette emerged as a distinctive voice in British pop music, first achieving international fame as the frontman of the duo Mattafix and later forging a successful solo career marked by chart-topping singles across Europe. Born Marlon McVey-Roudette in London on January 5, 1983, his upbringing was steeped in creativity. His father, record producer Cameron McVey, and his mother, dancer and choreographer Vonnie Roudette, provided a rich artistic environment. This musical foundation paved the way for his entry into the industry.
His major breakthrough came in 2005 with the formation of Mattafix alongside producer Preetesh Hirji. The duo's debut single, "Big City Life," became a global phenomenon in 2006, reaching number one in several European countries and establishing Roudette's soulful vocal style. After Mattafix disbanded, Roudette confidently stepped into a solo career. His debut single, "New Age," released in 2011, was a massive success, topping the charts in multiple European territories including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He solidified his solo status with the 2014 hit "When the Beat Drops Out," which reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart and earned a platinum certification.
While his own artist career flourished, Roudette simultaneously built a formidable reputation behind the scenes as a gifted songwriter and producer for other artists. He became a key collaborator for his half-sister, pop singer Mabel, co-writing her breakthrough hits "Finders Keepers" and "Fine Line." His songwriting credits expanded to include notable tracks such as "Ring Ring" by Jax Jones featuring Mabel and Rich The Kid, "My Lover" by Not3s, and work with artists like Sinéad Harnett, Wiley, and Tory Lanez. This dual-track career showcased his versatility and deep understanding of contemporary pop music.
Marlon Roudette continues to be a significant figure in the music industry, balancing his own artistic projects with his prolific writing and production work. His journey from the frontman of a globally successful duo to a hit-making solo artist and in-demand songwriter illustrates a sustained and evolving talent, firmly rooted in his London heritage and cross-cultural musical influences.
