Kenichi Suzumura, born September 12, 1974, in Tokyo, Japan, is a highly acclaimed voice actor, narrator, and singer whose versatile performances have left an indelible mark on anime, video games, and Japanese popular culture. He is best known for bringing a wide array of iconic characters to life, ranging from the hot-headed pilot Shinn Asuka in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny to the charming and mischievous Hikaru Hitachiin in Ouran High School Host Club, and the tragic hero Zack Fair in the Final Fantasy VII metaseries. A founding representative of his own agency, INTENTION, Suzumura has also made a name for himself as a member of the voice actor unit Nazo no Shin Unit STA?MEN, alongside notable peers such as Junichi Suwabe, Daisuke Kishio, Hiroki Takahashi, Hiroyuki Yoshino, Makoto Yasumura, and Kohsuke Toriumi.

Suzumura’s journey into voice acting began after he graduated from high school, inspired by his love for anime and video games. He made his professional debut in the late 1990s, landing minor roles before gaining early recognition as Kyoichi Kanzaki in BOYS BE and Yuya Aso in Super Gals!. His breakthrough came in 2004 when he was cast as Shinn Asuka in the massively popular Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, a role that cemented his status as a leading voice actor. This was followed by a string of high-profile performances, including the dual role of Ryutaros in the live-action tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Den-O, the bookish Lavi in D.Gray-man, and the stoic swordsman S?go Okita in Gintama. His portrayal of the gentle yet complex Rogue Cheney in Fairy Tail further showcased his range, while his work as Masato Hijirikawa in the musical franchise Uta no Prince-sama demonstrated his singing abilities.

In the realm of video games, Suzumura is particularly celebrated for his role as Zack Fair, the heroic SOLDIER from the Final Fantasy VII compilation, a performance that earned him widespread acclaim for its emotional depth. He also lent his voice to Leo Stenbuck in Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner and Shiki Tohno in the visual novel adaptation Tsukihime. His more recent work includes voicing the serpentine Obanai Iguro in the blockbuster anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Momotaro Mikoshiba in Free!, as well as reprising his role as Shinn Asuka in the 2024 film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. Beyond voice acting, Suzumura has pursued a successful music career, releasing several solo albums and singles, and performing as part of the duo CONNECT with fellow voice actor Mamoru Miyano.

Suzumura founded his own agency, INTENTION, in March 2012, where he serves as both a representative and a talent, maintaining creative control over his projects. His younger brother, Masaki Suzumura, is a stunt coordinator and actor, with whom he has occasionally collaborated. With a career spanning over two decades, Kenichi Suzumura remains one of Japan’s most respected and prolific voice talents, admired for his ability to infuse each character with distinct personality and emotion, and his legacy continues to grow with each new role.
