Hinder is an American rock band hailing from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, known for their post-grunge sound and catchy melodies. Formed in 2001, the band quickly garnered attention in the rock music scene, particularly with their breakout album "Extreme Behavior," released in 2005. With their blend of hard rock and emotional lyrics, Hinder became a notable name in the 2000s rock landscape, appealing to a broad audience with their anthemic hits.

The group was originally formed by lead singer Austin John Winkler, guitarist Joe "Blower" Garvey, and drummer Cody Hanson. In 2002, they added bassist Cole Parker during the recording of their debut EP "Far from Close." After Parker's departure in 2003, the band brought in bassist Mike Rodden and former guitarist Mark King in 2004 to solidify their lineup. Hinder's early music was characterized by the songwriting partnership of Winkler and Hanson, who crafted songs that resonated with fans and critics alike.

Their first studio album, "Extreme Behavior," achieved commercial success, driven by hit singles such as "Lips of an Angel," which reached the top of the charts and became a defining song of the era. The album's success led to their induction into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007, marking an important milestone in their career. Following this, they released "Take It to the Limit" in 2008, "All American Nightmare" in 2010, and "Welcome to the Freakshow" in 2012, each album showcasing their evolving sound and solidifying their presence in the rock genre.

In 2013, after Winkler parted ways with the band, Hinder sought a new frontman and eventually welcomed Marshal Dutton as their lead vocalist. This transition marked a new chapter for the band, as they continued to push their musical boundaries. With Dutton, they released "When the Smoke Clears" in 2015 and "The Reign" in 2017, both of which received a positive reception from fans and critics, signaling that Hinder was still a formidable force in rock music.

As of 2023, Hinder is poised for a new era with the release of their latest album, "Back to Life," which debuted on May 23, 2025, through Evil Teen Records. This album marks their first new material in seven years, illustrating their ability to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing music landscape. With a rich history of hits and a dedicated fanbase, Hinder continues to be a prominent name in rock music, drawing from their past successes while looking towards the future.
