Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was one of 28 people arrested in May 2022 in the RICO case against his YSL collective, which prosecutors allege is a criminal street gang.

AceShowbiz - Chance the Rapper had a simple wish on his 31st birthday. When celebrating his latest milestone, the "No Problem" rapper called for Young Thug's release from prison.

Making use of Instagram on Tuesday, April 16, the emcee posted an old video of him and the Atlanta native chatting at what appeared to be a festival. He began his caption, "For my birthday I just wish my brother was home with his family."

"This circus of a trial has had him in custody for over a year," the rhymer, whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, continued. "And with all the legal errors, jury misconduct and conflicts of interest by the state he deserves to at the very least fight this from home."

Chance also heaped lofty praise on Thugger as a rapper. On the top of the clip, he wrote, "Top 2 DOA [shrug emoji]."

Thug has been in jail since he was indicted over a year ago, on May 9, 2022, on racketeering and other felony charges as part of a sweeping RICO case against the YSL crew. Fellow rapper Gunna and 26 other people associated with YSL were also arrested in the case, but the "Drip Too Hard" emcee and many others have been released after pleading guilty.

As for Chance, he celebrated his birthday just weeks after he and wife Kirsten Corley announced their split. "After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways," the former couple said in a statement. "We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together."

The pair met at the tender age of nine and began dating in 2013. They welcomed their first child, Kensli, in 2015, and their second, Marli, in 2019, the same year they exchanged vows in Newport Beach, California.
