In the current season of the NBC show, the Grammy-winning country star will guide the artists who have advanced through the battle rounds as they prepare for the knockouts.

AceShowbiz - NBC has announced that Keith Urban will join the hit singing competition series "The Voice" as a mega mentor for season 25, starting April 8. The Grammy-winning country star will guide the artists who have advanced through the battle rounds and are now preparing for the knockout challenges.

Urban will work alongside season 25's coaches: Chance the Rapper, Dan + Shay, John Legend, and Reba McEntire. Urban previously appeared on "The Voice" as an advisor to coach Blake Shelton in season 15 and has served as a coach on the series' Australian version for multiple seasons.

In his role as mega mentor, Urban will offer guidance and support to the remaining performers as they prepare for the knockouts, where artists will compete against a teammate but select their own songs to perform individually. Coaches will choose the winner from their team to advance to the playoffs, the final stage before live shows. Each coach also has the opportunity to steal one singer from another team during knockouts.

Aside from his "The Voice" duties, Urban is gearing up to release a new album featuring the singles "Straight Line" and "Messed Up as Me." The forthcoming project will be the follow-up to his 2020 album "The Speed of Now Part 1."

"The Voice," which premiered on February 26, has featured a country-heavy lineup of coaches this season. Dan + Shay spoke about their excitement to compete for country acts with McEntire, saying, "This year it's crazy because we have the queen of country music... Reba is on there." Despite the playful rivalry on the show, they emphasized their admiration and friendship with McEntire behind the scenes.

Previous mega mentors on "The Voice" have included Ed Sheeran, Usher, Taylor Swift, and others. The series hails from MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios.
