The actress, best known for her role on Netflix's miniseries 'The Queen's Gambit', is allegedly eyed to play a female version of Silver Surfer, who is traditionally portrayed by male actors.

AceShowbiz - Marvel's "Fantastic Four (2025)" may have found its villain in Anya Taylor-Joy. Rumor has it that the Golden Globe-winning actress has been eyed to star in the upcoming reboot as the big baddie with a twist.

According to the rambling Internet talks, the 27-year-old Miami-born star is being considered to play a female version of Silver Surfer. Movie insider DanielRPK was the first to report the news of Taylor-Joy's possible casting, before Jeff Sneider teased that fans can "expect to see a female Silver Surfer" in the new big screen adaptation of the comic books.

Should the rumor be true, this will be a deviation from the tradition. Silver Surfer has been depicted as male in the previous screen adaptations. The character was portrayed by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" (2007).

Nothing, however, has been set in stone for the untitled "Fantastic Four" reboot despite numerous casting news. It was recently reported that Pedro Pascal has entered the race to play Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, the leader of the team known as Marvel's First Family.

Prior to "The Last of Us" actor, Adam Driver was said to be the frontrunner for the lead role, but talks with the "Ferrari" star apparently fell through.

As for Taylor-Joy, she first gained attention for her role in horror film "The Witch" (2015). She then starred in M. Night Syamalan's "Split" (2016) and its sequel "Glass" (2019), before landing the lead role on Netflix's miniseries "The Queen's Gambit", for which she won a Golden Globe Award and an SAG Award as well as an Emmy nomination.

The 27-year-old has since starred in films such as "Last Night in Soho" (2021), "The Northman" (2022), "The Menu" (2022) and most recently "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (2023). She has also been cast as the titular role in "Mad Max: Fury Road" prequel film "Furiosa".
