As filming has been halted halfway through the production due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, it's believed that director Shawn Levy won't have enough time to complete the film before the due date.

AceShowbiz - "Deadpool 3" may have to give up its start-of-summer theatrical release date amid the uncertainty surrounding its production. The movie will likely be moved from its May 3, 2024 release date as filming has been halted halfway through the production due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

With no exact date on when filming will resume, it is believed that director Shawn Levy won't be able to complete the film before the assigned May 2024 release date. As Deadline notes, even if the strike ends in the next few weeks, a 2024 restart on the half-finished movie won't give it enough time to meet the deadline.

According to the outlet, Disney has had a back-up plan with another Marvel movie possibly replacing "Deadpool 3" on the May 2024 date. "Captain America: Brave New World" was originally set for May 3 and then was pushed to July 26, but it may move back to its initial date because it has finished production.

In a recent interview, Levy raised concern about the uncertainty surrounding the film's release date as he has not been able to resume the shooting. "I wish I knew. I don't even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3," he told TheWrap of the threequel, which stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. "Certainly, the actors' strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk."

The "Free Guy" director, however, can assure that he has shot and edited half the film. "We've shot half the movie. I've edited half the movie," he said, before sharing his hope, "We're dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year."

In the same interview, Levy addressed rumors that Taylor Swift would make a cameo as Dazzler in the upcoming movie. "They sure are loud," the filmmaker said of Swifties' reactions. Without confirming nor denying the rumors, he added, "I'm going across the board. 'No comment' because that's a double whammy. That's Taylor-related. And it's MCU-related. I'm no dummy. You're going to have to wait and see."

Now, a new report claims that the Grammy Award winner will appear in the third "Deadpool" film but not as Dazzler. Instead, the pop superstar may likely play herself in the forthcoming movie, according to MyTimeToShineHello.
