The former NFL star had asked the prison to be placed in the same cell as his alleged gay lover Kyle Kennedy but his request was rejected.

AceShowbiz - Aaron Hernandez had specifically requested to share a prison cell with his alleged gay lover, Kyle Kennedy, prior to his death. Kennedy's attorney Larry Army Jr. confirmed that Hernandez had asked his client to be his cellmate. However, the police turned down his request.

"Aaron Hernandez had requested to the prison that my client, Kyle Kennedy be his cellmate," Army stated. He said that although the request was rejected, Kennedy was open to the idea. "If he was going to be in with someone else why not Aaron Hernandez," he said.

Hernandez made his request last September, but the superintendent at the maximum security prison overruled the decision. A source told Daily Mail, "The superintendent didn't want Hernandez conspiring with anyone any more than necessary. In prison, it's all about isolating potential troublemakers so they don't have the opportunity to hatch plots with other prisoners."

Army also confirmed that the 27-year-old former athlete did write a suicide note for Kennedy, but neither of them had read the letter. "Neither I, nor my client, have seen the letter," he informed. "We will be requesting that the letter be turned over to my client as soon as possible."

Kennedy was jailed in 2015 for armed robbery and received a sentence of 3-5 years. He became close with Hernandez, who was serving a life sentence after he was found guilty for killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd in 2013. After Hernandez's suicide, Kennedy was put on suicide watch. "My client is obviously saddened by the loss of his friend, Aaron Hernandez," Army added.

Aaron Hernandez committed suicide in his prison cell by hanging himself on April 19. He was found with "John 3:16" written on his forehead. He left three suicide notes and one of them was addressed to Kennedy. The other two were addressed to his fiancee and his 4-year-old daughter.
