The former NFL star, who committed suicide on April 19, was believed to have left three suicide notes addressed to his fiancee, his daughter and his jailhouse gay lover.

AceShowbiz - Aaron Hernandez, who committed suicide by hanging himself in his prison cell on April 19, had reportedly left three suicide notes. The notes were addressed to his fiancee Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, his 4-year-old daughter Avielle and his gay lover in prison.

A source told Daily Mail that Hernandez's lover hadn't been identified, but he was believed to be the last person the 27-year-old former athlete spoke to before he hanged himself. According to the source, the man is currently under suicide watch.

Reports also suggested that Hernandez had planned his suicide for weeks as he gave away most of his belongings to other inmates. Before committing suicide, the former NFL star was said to cover his prison cell in soap in order to prevent himself from standing firmly on the ground if he lost his nerve.

Massachusetts District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. had released a statement regarding Hernandez's death. "Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Henry N. Nields performed an autopsy on Mr. Hernandez on Wednesday and concluded today that the manner of death was suicide and the cause asphyxia by hanging. There were no signs of a struggle, and investigators determined that Mr. Hernandez was alone at the time of the suicide." he stated. "Mr. Hernandez was locked in his cell about 8 P.M. and no one entered the cell until a correction officer observed him at 3:03 A.M. and forced his way through the impeded door to render aid."

After the results of the autopsy came out, it was reported that Hernandez's family wanted to donate his brain to Boston University to have it researched into how football injuries affect behavior. Hernandez's family lawyer, Jose Baez, believed that Hernandez may have suffered from injuries he received during his football days. "We made arrangements for the Boston University CTE unit to take possession of Aaron's brain," Baez said.

Hernandez was serving a life sentence after he was found guilty for killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd in 2013.
