John McCain's Daughter Is Considered for 'The View', Rosie O'Donnell Has Been in Talks for Months

Meghan McCain is rumored as a candidate to be one of the new co-hosts on the talk show, while O'Donnell has reportedly negotiated her return for the last 6 months.

Another name has been thrown as a possible new co-host on "". A source tells E! News that Senator John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, is being considered to fill one of the vacant spots on the show.

The 29-year-old, who graduated from Columbia University, is currently under contract as the host of "Take Part Live" on Pivot and has appeared several times on the ABC talk show. Despite being a Republican, she describes herself as someone who is "liberal on social issues."

Also rumored to be the new co-hosts on "The View" are and Mario Cantone. The former, who moderated the program from 2006 to 2007, has reportedly been in talks with producers for the last 6 months.

Former co-host , who was involved in a heated argument with O'Donnell before O'Donnell's departure, said that it's not surprising if O'Donnell returns to the show. "I do believe this has been in the works for a long, long time," Hasselbeck told her "Fox & Friends" co-hosts on air.

She added that during ' last episode, "she walked around with a lot of control. And then when I had the chance to talk to her, Rosie herself told me, on set while we were mic-ed up, that she produced the reunion show to have everybody together and that it was her idea." Hasselbeck went on claiming, "Now, do you think the woman who left the way that she did would be producing Barbara's goodbye show? Here's the shocker, it was actually her 'Hello Show.' "

A rep for ABC refused to confirm any casting news, telling PEOPLE, "At this time, we have no announcement to make and we are weeks away from making any type of announcement about anything pertaining to the show." The rep also said, "Any specific names at this point are rumor and speculation."
