**Independence Day: Resurgence** is a 2016 American science fiction action film directed by Roland Emmerich. It is the sequel to the 1996 film Independence Day. The film stars Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, William Fichtner, and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The film follows the events of the first film, where Earth is once again invaded by aliens, and the survivors must band together to fight back. In a viral video released for the film, titled "20 in 20 - Patricia Whitmore", actress Sela Ward discusses her character, President Patricia Whitmore, and her role in the film.
