Independence Day: Resurgence is an upcoming American epic science fiction action disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich, who co-wrote the screenplay with Dean Devlin and James Vanderbilt, from a story by Emmerich and Devlin. The film is a sequel to the 1996 film Independence Day, and the second installment in the Independence Day film series. The film stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Brent Spiner, Travis Tope, Joey King, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward.
In the film, twenty years after the first film, Earth is once again invaded by aliens. The survivors of the first invasion must band together to defeat the aliens and save the planet.
