Tomoya Aki, a high school otaku, dreams of creating the ultimate visual novel game, one that will finally bring the world of anime and bishoujo games to life. To achieve this, he recruits the school's perfectionist illustrator, Eriri Spencer Sawamura, and the brilliant but reclusive writer, Utaha Kasumigaoka. However, his plans are complicated by his childhood friend, Megumi Kato, a seemingly plain and unassuming girl who becomes the inspiration for his game's heroine. The catch is that Megumi is, in Tomoya's eyes, frustratingly boring, lacking the vibrant personality he envisioned for his main character. As this unlikely team of passionate creators navigates the chaotic, humorous, and often self-referential world of otaku culture, they must balance their creative ambitions, personal rivalries, and budding feelings. The series is a witty romantic comedy that affectionately parodies the anime and game industry while exploring the challenges of turning a simple idea into a masterpiece, all while asking whether a "boring" girl can truly be the heart of an exciting story.
