Gamby (Danny McBride) bonds with Amanda (Georgia King) during teacher workday; Russell's (Walton Goggins) patience is tested; Dr. Brown (Kimberly Hebert Gregory) deals with the sudden appearance of her ex-husband, Dascious (Brian Tyree Henry).
North Jackson is student-free for Teacher Work Day. Belinda gives Russell the task of keeping her two sons in her office for the day. Gamby tries to move on from Janelle, throwing himself into work. Belinda gets an unwelcomed visitor to the school, and confides in Neal.
Russell attempts to get information out of Luke and Mario, but it proves more challenging than expected. Despite Hayden and Ms. Abbott's bullying, Gamby and Ms. Snodgrass continue to find common ground. Lee helps out after Neal gets an urgent call.
