Benson and Stabler are called to the scene where the body of a young man has been found bludgeoned to death. The body is in a storage closet at a hotel. The man who found the body remembers serving drinks to the victim at the wedding in the hotel earlier and getting into an altercation with the bride, Audrina, and her father before being tossed out.

Fin goes through surveillance cameras at the hotel and discovers the young man was also a hustler. After Munch locates the victim's wallet in a dumpster, Stabler tells Fin their John Doe is 16-year-old Andrew Hingham. The detectives immediately question all the hotel's kitchen staff.

The detectives interview Andrew's mother, Joyce. She tells them that Andrew hasn't been home in seven months, but the two Skype every Sunday. During their interview, Andrew dials in to Skype with Joyce, but when he sees Benson on the other end, he hangs up the phone. Now the detectives need to know who their John Doe is and why he was carrying Andrew's wallet.

After going back to surveillance camera footage, the detectives notice that Andrew was at the wedding with their murder victim. They propose that Andrew murdered his boyfriend in a jealous rage while at the reception. Joyce tells detectives that Andrew spent time in the Bellevue psychiatric ward for schizophrenia.

The detectives discover that once Andrew was admitted to Bellevue, he fell for the charms of volunteer aid Jack Robinson, who helped Andrew escape the hospital. Jack is also the man seen in the surveillance photos. Jack has a criminal record for identity theft and fraud. Police call Jack's father in to identify the body and he admits his son was a known con artist.

Hacking into Andrew's computer, police are able to see footage from his web cam and spot the background scene as his location. Fin and Munch head to an apartment across from Central Park. Munch installs surveillance outside the apartment, while Fin leaves to question his son, Ken, who works for the halfway house where Andrew used to crash.

Fin is furious when he discovers his son has moved into the same apartment that Munch is staking out. Fin barges in on Ken and accuses him of harboring a known fugitive. Ken swears he hasn't seen Andrew in days and he must be surviving on the street. He offers to help his father try to find Andrew.

Ken locates Andrew and brings him to the SVU for questioning. While the detectives look on, Ken talks to Andrew, who ends up confessing to Jack's murder. Ken tries to persuade Andrew to not say anything more without a guardian present. Andrew continues to tell Ken that he was only defending himself when Jack tried to rape him.

Cragen interviews Mallory, the girl who pressed rape charges against Andrew, which resulted in his stay at the psychiatric ward. Mallory says Andrew is innocent of all charges and somebody else planted the accusation of rape into her parents' heads. Meanwhile, Dr. Stanton tells Huang that she's the one who placed the call accusing Andrew of raping Mallory.

Fin and Ken are both relieved to know the DA's office are refusing to press charges against Andrew for Jack's death, citing his self-defense claim. Fin visits Joyce and delivers the news that Andrew is out of prison. She's shocked he didn't come home. Afterwards, Huang and Fin go looking for Andrew at Dr. Stanton's.

Huang and Fin find Andrew at Dr. Stanton's place completely drugged up. After Dr. Stanton threatens to throw the guys out, they leave on their own, but not before hearing a crying baby in the next room. Back at the SVU, Huang tells detectives he suspects Andrew's been misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and is now being drugged up by Dr. Stanton for her own benefit.

Huang questions Dr. Stanton about her motives for not keeping Andrew's medical records up to date. She claims she just didn't have time to balance all of the updates between Andrew's schizophrenia and depression diagnosis. Huang presents evidence that Andrew is not schizophrenic and accuses Dr. Stanton of almost killing Andrew with medication.

Benson interviews Andrew separately and wants to know more about his relationship with Dr. Stanton. He tells Benson that his doctor was the first person who ever made Andrew feel loved and talks about how their relationship slowly became sexual when he was 13. Andrew admits that Dr. Stanton had his baby and that's when things began to spiral out of control. He also tells Benson that Mallory was jealous of Dr. Stanton.

Benson informs Andrew that it was Dr. Stanton who placed the call to Mallory's parents accusing him of rape, so he would stay under her care. Benson then tells Andrew that Dr. Stanton was drugging him up to keep him close to her. Meanwhile, Dr. Stanton tells Huang that her relationship with Andrew is the healthiest one she's ever been in.

Fin tells Dr. Stanton she's going to prison for statutory rape and she defends all of her actions. Later at Dr. Stanton's arraignment, she agrees to plea not guilty for a lesser sentence. Andrew's mom agrees to watch her baby. But before going to prison, she gives a statement to Andrew, admitting her love for him and asking for forgiveness. Dr. Stanton leaves to serve her 20-year sentence, but tells Andrew she'll wait for him.
