PAROLED GANG MEMBER'S MURDER POINTS TO FEARFUL CORRECTIONS OFFICER; EMMY WINNER CANDICE BERGEN GUEST STARS AS BRAVE JUDGE -- When a recently paroled prison gang member is found shot to death, Detectives Fontana (Dennis Farina) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) suspect former crime associates until they discover that the victim had a running battle in prison with a hard-nosed corrections officer who had every reason to fear retaliation once the inmate was released. A.D.A. McCoy (Sam Waterston) soon learns that the defense attorney will claim his client was only taking preemptive action to stave off a threat by the con and his fellow neo-Nazis -- and the case's valiant judge (Emmy Award-winning guest star Candice Bergen, "Murphy Brown") also must decide if she will be intimidated by additional gang threats against her life.
