KEVIN DENABURG had a rough life. First, he lost his job; then, he learned his girlfriend was actually a hooker; and ultimately, his body was discovered at the bottom of a storm drain, head and hands severed clean off.
What initially appears to be a mob hit quickly leads higher up the food chain, as AMBER DONELLI, Kevin's girlfriend, is exposed as a "party girl" - a high class escort for corporate events. Her last event was a soiree thrown for the Willoughby Bank and Trust. Although the bank has weathered some rough years, things are looking up, and mid-level manager DAVID NOVAK believes his years of diligent service are about to pay off. He's a hard worker who'll do anything for the company and for his boss, NATHAN GRAYSON, the bank's CEO - a smooth operator from a privileged background who is used to getting his way. When the Denaburg murder lands on their doorstep, their futures appear to be in jeopardy.
As Nichols and Stevens investigate, they soon find themselves in a high stakes game where loyalties are abused, and people will do anything to get what they think is coming to them.
