After weathering years of ups and downs, Bing and Avery Cullman's marriage has finally begun to find equilibrium. But old habits die hard, and tonight their busy lives are once again taking them in separate directions. So while advertising exec Avery oversees a shoot for a fashion line and entertains the advances of one of the male models, Bing stays home to fulfill an oenophilist's dream: the tasting of some extremely rare bottles of wine unearthed from the basement of George Washington himself.
The tasting is a success beyond Bing's wildest dreams. The bottles are a once in a lifetime find, much to the delight of the select audience Bing has gathered including Ev Dilahunt, who plans to buy the remaining bottles for $350,000 and sell them for twice that through his auction house. However, after his guests have left, Bing suffers a massive coronary and the wine cellar door locks behind him, leaving no one to hear him as he screams for help.
It seems like a straightforward heart attack, but when the toxicology report tests positive for a potentially lethal combination of drugs, Goren and Eames must delve into the insulated world of high-class oenophiles. There, they find big egos, big money, and enough reason for anyone in Bing's life to want him dead.
