AceShowbiz - CNN anchor Anderson Cooper has been attacked in Cairo while reporting on the Egyptian protests calling for the resignation of long-serving President Hosni Mubarak. The revered newsman jetted to the African republic to give viewers a frontline report on the daily pro-democracy rallies which have been taking place since last week on the streets of the capital.
However, the protest turned ugly on Wednesday, February 2 when Mubarak's supporters clashed with demonstrators, and violence broke out across Cairo. According to ETOnline.com, Anderson and his crew were "kicked and punched in the head" by a baying mob before they escaped to safety on a rooftop.
Cooper's fellow CNN journalist Piers Morgan writes on his Twitter.com page, "Worrying scenes in Cairo - @andersoncooper been punched in the head, pro Mubarak supporters fighting protesters all over Square."
