Wyclef Jean: The Fugees Reunion Is 'Not Meant to Be'
Music

'You're going to have egos and differences but at the end of the day I love them both very much,' Jean said in reference to Pras Michael and Lauryn Hill.

AceShowbiz - Wyclef Jean is adamant he has no plans to revive The Fugees since making amends with former bandmate Pras Michel - insisting a reunion is "not meant to be". The rappers - and singer Lauryn Hill - went their separate ways in 1997, before getting back together in 2004 for a short-lived reunion.

The pair subsequently went five years without speaking and Michel refused to back Jean's failed bid for the Haitian presidency last year. Jean was stunned to find himself sat next to his old pal on a flight to Haiti on Wednesday, January 12, and told fans on Twitter.com that they used their time mid-air to make peace.

But despite putting their past differences behind them, Jean is adamant The Fugees will remain history. He tells the BBC, "I saw Pras on the flight and as a Fugees member I didn't know whether to elbow him, shoot him or give him a kiss and we gave a hug (sic)."

"When it comes to Lauryn and Pras, it's my childhood, they always bring me to that place. Bono's U2 calls The Fugees the hip-hop version of The Beatles. It was the first band of hip-hop in our generation."

"At the end of the day Pras is my brother and Lauryn is my sister, despite what the media say. The Fugees are not meant to be. We're rock stars from a locked group. You're going to have egos and differences but at the end of the day I love them both very much."
