AceShowbiz - Late model/actress Anna Nicole Smith was a difficult patient to treat because the drug addict needed medication for chronic pain syndrome, a court has heard. Doctors Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor and Smith's lawyer lover Howard K. Stern are currently on trial in California, accused of conspiring to provide the busty blonde with strong prescription pills in the run-up to her death in 2007.

Another of Smith's medics, Dr. Victor Kovener, took the stand this week and testified that the model suffered constant pain, stemming from an unknown cause, and required drugs for physical and emotional relief. But Kovener told the court her reliance on the medication had become so severe, he recommended Smith enroll in a rehab program, a suggestion she snubbed, reports the Associated Press.

Describing the extent of her addiction problem, he said, "She could become addicted to Jello (gelatin dessert)." Kovener's comments came during his second day of testimony. All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial continues.
