Holly Rowe opens up about broadcasting through her cancer battle and Candace Parker's support on the 'Post Moves' podcast, plus her WNBA playoff picks and Coach of the Year vote.

AceShowbiz - Candace Parker and Holly Rowe shared an emotional exchange about Rowe's cancer battle on the latest episode of Post Moves, the podcast hosted by Parker and Aliyah Boston.

During the episode, Rowe opened up about a difficult period in her life when she was undergoing treatment. She recalled a conversation with Parker before a game at shootaround that changed how she approached her work on television.

"I want to say thank you to you, because I was going through this really rough time in my life. Do you remember the conversation you had with me before a game at Shoot Around?" Rowe said. "So people don't know, I was going through this really bad battle. I had just found out I had stage four metastatic [cancer], I had tumors in my lungs. I maybe wasn't going to make it. And I was wearing a wig on TV and you pulled me aside. What did you tell me?"

Parker recalled her response to Rowe during that moment. "I told you, I was like, 'Holly, your hair is beautiful. You look beautiful. I think that tonight you should be you. You should be you because we all see you, we love you, and we care about you deeply,'" Parker said.

Rowe then revealed that Parker and Nneka Ogwumike encouraged her to broadcast without her wig. "So you and Nneka encouraged me to go on national TV with no wig on, looking very sick, but your love meant a lot to me during that time," Rowe said.

Later in the episode, Parker announced a donation from her family to the Joy+Us Foundation, the nonprofit founded by Rowe. "I want to say, because I know just like you do, you always give love to everyone else and you want to divert the attention to others, but we love you so much and this Joy+Us Foundation, just the impact that it's made," Parker said. "So on behalf of myself and my family, in memory of your mother, the Parker family is going to give $5,000 to the Joy+Us Foundation. We love you so much. And I just think your energy and your purpose and who you are as a human and your passion just bleeds over into everybody that you're a part of."

The conversation also turned to the WNBA playoffs, with Rowe discussing the challenge of covering both college football and the WNBA postseason simultaneously. "This is a crazy time of year for me and it's hard, I'm not going to lie, but it's joyful and fun because I really have to love my job this time of year because I'm going from a college football game at midnight, driving through the night or traveling and then trying to get to my WNBA playoff game," Rowe said. "I think this is my, I don't know, maybe 18th, 20th year doing college football and WNBA playoffs. I've been putting some miles on, but I love it and I would rather die than miss these games. So here I am."

Rowe also shared her thoughts on the playoff matchup between the Minnesota Lynx and the New York Liberty, highlighting Breanna Stewart's impact. "I think Minnesota can win the WNBA championship. They're a deeper team, a more complete team, but New York has Stewie. And you saw that Stewie just is a winner at every level. Her competitive will to win," Rowe said. "People might forget, remember last year when she was playing with a very severely injured knee and she's trying to will her team to a win against Phoenix on one leg. It's probably one of the greatest W performances of someone fighting through injury I've ever seen. But if you have Stewie, you have a chance."

Rowe also expressed her admiration for Las Vegas Aces coach Natalie Nakase, revealing she voted for her as Coach of the Year. "She's a little tiny person and she walked on to UCLA and not only did she become a player, she became a starter. She became a team captain. She's probably my size. She's probably 5'3\", 5'4\" and she played in a pro league. This is a woman who has had to prove people wrong every single step of her life because she's little, all the things. And so I love her. I love her demeanor. I love listening to her top basketball. You got to be with her in Las Vegas where she was part of some of those dynasty wins for the Aces. I think Natalie Nakase, I actually voted for her for Coach of the Year. No offense to Cheryl Reeve, because I thought Cheryl did a great job and absolutely deserves it. But I voted for Natalie."

Parker added her own perspective on Nakase. "She has players playing for her. Obviously, she's a little bit of an asshole, which is why we got along in Vegas because she'll tell it, she shoots it straight. She's to the point," Parker said.
