AceShowbiz - Cristiano Ronaldo sits at the top of a new ranking of Instagram's highest-earning accounts, with an estimated potential of $11.6 million per sponsored post, according to a report released by the data analytics firm PlayersTime.
The report, which identified the top 20 most-followed profiles across 40 countries, places Lionel Messi second at an estimated $10.4 million per post and Bad Bunny third at an estimated $10.2 million. The figures are modeled potential estimates based on the midpoints of Social Cat's projected ranges for revenues per sponsored post, rather than confirmed real-world earnings.
Ronaldo, who leads the global leaderboard with more than 679 million followers, holds an engagement rate of 1.71 percent. Messi commands a 2.01 percent engagement rate. Bad Bunny, by contrast, reaches roughly 53 million followers, less than a tenth of Ronaldo's audience, yet posts a 19.05 percent engagement rate that brings his estimated earnings close to those of the two football stars.
Zendaya is the highest-placed United States earner on the list, with an estimated $5.3 million per post. South Korea places four musicians in the top 20: V, SUGA, Jin and Lisa. According to the report, that gives South Korea more musicians on the Instagram global leaderboard than any other nation.
The findings were accompanied by comments from Stanislava Savisheva, a data analyst at PlayersTime, who said the platform's economics now reward engagement over raw reach.

"The modern influencer economy operates entirely on algorithmic momentum, where the traditional model of paying for raw follower count has been completely replaced by active, metric-driven engagement," Savisheva said. "The algorithm heavily rewards digital scarcity and hyper-focused fan interaction, creating a marketplace where a smaller, fiercely loyal audience can generate financial value to an account with ten times the reach."
Savisheva also pointed to the volatility of digital influence, citing Ed Sheeran as an example. According to the report, Sheeran lost nearly half a million Instagram followers in a matter of days after his Loop Tour was thrown into chaos over opening-act cancellations.
"We saw this vulnerability play out in real time during the recent Ed Sheeran Loop Tour fallout," Savisheva said. "It is a stark reminder that digital capital is incredibly fragile. If you do not command deep, active loyalty, your entire empire can look like an empty numbers game in less than forty-eight hours."
