AceShowbiz - Drew Fortier's crime-horror-comedy creature feature Bunker Heights is headed to home entertainment. MVD Entertainment will release the film worldwide on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on October 13, 2026, the distributor has announced.
The film stars Hannah Fierman (V/H/S), Chaney Morrow (Haunt), Paul T. Taylor (Hellraiser: Judgment), Violent J of Insane Clown Posse, Vinnie Dombroski of Sponge and David Ellefson, formerly of Megadeth. Ellefson also serves as an executive producer on the project.
Set in a once-thriving Midwestern city overrun by corruption, organized crime and violence, Bunker Heights follows burned-out homicide detective Derek Tucker, played by Fortier, as a routine investigation spirals into a nightmare involving a botched bank robbery. The film blends crime, comedy and creature-feature horror, with the distributor describing it as "C.H.U.D. meets Lethal Weapon."
The cast also includes Floyd Ewing Jr., whose credits include The Dead Next Door, and James L. Edwards, previously seen in Bloodletting. Deryk Wehrley handled the film's practical creature effects, having worked on Zombieland: Double Tap and Fear Clinic. Fortier's previous directing credits include Dwellers and Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie.
Production on the film took place partly at the Old Historic Harriman Hospital in Tennessee, a location that has long carried a reputation for paranormal activity. The setting adds a layer of atmosphere to the creature feature, which leans on practical effects rather than digital creations.
A special screening of Bunker Heights will take place on September 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Kan-Kan Cinema in Indianapolis, followed by a Q&A session with Fortier and Fierman.
The film's inspirations draw from cult classics of the 1980s and 1990s, including C.H.U.D., The Return of the Living Dead and Tremors. Morrow previously appeared in Haunt, while Taylor starred in Hellraiser: Judgment. Violent J is a member of Insane Clown Posse, and Dombroski fronts Sponge. Ellefson was a longtime bassist for Megadeth.
The official trailer for Bunker Heights has been released, offering a look at the film's creature effects and its blend of horror and dark comedy. The home entertainment release will include the film on Blu-ray, DVD and digital platforms.
