AceShowbiz - Rebel Wilson is making her directorial debut with the musical comedy The Deb, which is set to be released on digital and on demand on August 25, 2026. The film, written by Hannah Reilly, follows two teenage cousins who dig deep to find self-acceptance and a date to the Debutante Ball in a small country town in Australia.

Wilson is an alumna and now patron of The Australian Theatre for Young People, whose home base in Sydney is called 'The Rebel Theatre,' named after her. The inaugural production in that theatre was a workshop production of The Deb, which originated from Wilson's annual scholarship program aimed at mentoring emerging young Australian talent. Wilson has now turned The Deb into a feature film, marking her directorial debut. She also co-wrote and produced the film and is a contributing songwriter.

Charlotte MacInnes, who plays Maeve Barker, was born in the beach town of Albany in Western Australia. She graduated from WAAPA in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theatre. In 2024, MacInnes will be starring as Daisy in Gatsy: An American Myth at the American Repertory Theatre. In 2022, she made her professional debut in the world premiere production of The Deb for ATYP, playing Maeve Brennan, with reviews dubbing her "instantly a star." On the small screen, she has appeared in the mystery drama series North Shore, available on Paramount+.

Stevie Jean, who plays Annabelle, is an emerging actor and singer from the Northern Territory. Her music career was launched when her single 'Hell in Every Religion' took her to the Top 5 of Triple J's Unearthed High competition and earned her a nomination for NT's Best Live Voice in both 2017 and 2018's National Live Music Awards. She received the Northern Territory Music Award for Rock Song of the Year in 2022 for her song 'Menace'.

Brianna Bishop, who plays Danielle, is an actor, singer, dancer, and musician currently starring as Marty Maraschino in Grease the Musical. Other recent credits include the lead role of Ella in the world premiere of Midnight at Melbourne's Comedy Theatre.
