AceShowbiz - Marvel Comics is set to release a new series of one-shot comics titled Infernal Hulk Vs., which will pave the way for the upcoming Hulk War crossover event. The series will spotlight the Hulk battling and defeating some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, including Spider-Man, Wolverine, the Fantastic Four, and The Avengers.
The Infernal Hulk Vs. one-shots will serve as the penultimate chapters in the Infernal Hulk storyline, leading directly into Hulk War, scheduled for early 2027. The first installment, Infernal Hulk Vs. Wolverine #1, is slated for release in September 2024, with Phillip Kennedy Johnson penning the script and Jonas Scharf handling the artwork. Subsequent issues will follow through December 2024 and will depict the Hulk’s brutal victories over several major Marvel characters.
The story centers on Hulk’s rampage being driven by an ancient evil named Eldest, who has taken control of his body. This possession reveals a darker, more horror-infused side of the character, as Hulk transforms and assembles an army of corrupted monstrous champions across the Infernal Hulk one-shots. Johnson has described the series as chronicling key battles where Hulk gathers his Infernal Avengers in preparation for the Hulk War event.
Hulk has been a major figure in Marvel’s universe, with a cinematic history dating back to the 2003 action film directed by Ang Lee and starring Eric Bana. Over the years, Hulk has been featured in numerous comics and films, becoming one of Marvel’s most enduring and powerful characters. This new series promises to deepen the character’s mythos by exploring a more sinister facet driven by the Eldest’s influence.
This new series is significant as it not only heightens anticipation for the Hulk War event but also expands the narrative scope of Hulk’s character by blending superhero action with horror elements. Fans can expect to see a more dangerous and relentless Hulk, setting the stage for one of Marvel’s most intense crossover events to date.
