AceShowbiz - Jack Avery, the former Why Don't We member and current solo artist, first revealed last fall on Zach Sang's radio show that FBI agents had shown up at his home. Two agents arrived at the house and spoke to his mother, telling her, "Jack hasn't done anything wrong. We think he's a victim of something." The FBI then explained to Jack Avery and his family that "someone hired someone" to kill him.

On May 20, Avery's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child, Gabriela Gonzalez, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder. According to Los Angeles prosecutors, Gonzalez allegedly plotted to kill Avery sometime between 2020 and 2021, along with her father, Francisco Gonzalez, and her ex-boyfriend, Kai Faron Cordrey.

On May 21, Jack Avery released a statement on Instagram addressing the situation. "For years, my family and I have endured intense public scrutiny, false accusations, and deeply painful attacks on our character and reputation," Avery wrote. "Throughout that time, I chose to remain silent out of respect for the legal process and, most importantly, for my daughter." He attached a photo of himself carrying his 7-year-old daughter to the post.

Fellow former Why Don't We members Jonah Marais, Daniel Seavey, and Corbyn Besson expressed their support in the comments. "Your strength is unbelievable brother," wrote Daniel Seavey, who added, "love you so much."

Officials allege that Gabriela Gonzalez's father sent her then-boyfriend Kai Faron Cordrey $10,000 to hire a hit man to kill Jack Avery during a custody dispute. If found guilty, the three individuals could each face up to 25 years in state prison.
