AceShowbiz - Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand SKIMS has officially denied any connection to a major cocaine smuggling incident in England involving a shipment of the company’s products.
In a statement given to TMZ, a SKIMS spokesperson emphasized that the company had no knowledge or participation in the illegal activities linked to the shipment. The representative stated, "SKIMS is aware of the recent news involving a shipment with our products," and made it clear that SKIMS had no ties to the smuggling operation, the driver, or the vehicle involved.
Authorities revealed that Jakub Jan Konkel, a Polish national, was sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking cocaine. Investigators said Konkel transported 28 pallets of SKIMS merchandise from the Netherlands to England last September. Upon arrival at the Port of Harwich, Border Force officers inspected the truck and found 90 concealed packages of cocaine near the rear doors of the trailer.
The drugs were valued at approximately $9.4 million. Officials clarified that the SKIMS clothing itself was legitimate and was allegedly used as a cover for the narcotics shipment. Initially, Konkel denied any knowledge of the cocaine but later admitted he agreed to smuggle the drugs in exchange for roughly $5,300, according to reports.
The company’s swift response aims to distance the SKIMS brand from the criminal case and reaffirm that the brand had no involvement in the illicit activities associated with the shipment. This statement comes amid growing public attention following the high-profile conviction of Konkel in connection with the drug trafficking operation.
