AceShowbiz - Japanese pop group Number_i, consisting of Sho Hirano, Yuta Jinguji, and Yuta Kishi, has officially partnered with Atlantic Records in the United States. This announcement was made public on Monday morning, marking a significant step for the trio as they expand their presence internationally.
The group recently visited Atlantic’s Los Angeles offices to begin work on new music projects, which are expected to be released later this year. This collaboration represents a major milestone in the group's career as they aim to broaden their sound and reach within the competitive U.S. music market.
In a joint statement, Number_i expressed their enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, "We're excited to announce that we've signed with Atlantic Records in the U.S. We're really looking forward to expanding our sound and reach with the team." They added that they are committed to continuing their efforts to share their music with a wider audience and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from their fans.
Earlier this year, Number_i also secured global representation by signing with the management company WME, which will oversee their activities worldwide. Since their debut in 2024, the trio has rapidly gained popularity across Japan and is now focusing on entering the U.S. music scene more robustly.
Their first major U.S. appearance as a group occurred at the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where they performed as part of 88Rising’s Futures stage lineup. This marked their debut at a major American music festival and was an important moment in their efforts to connect with international audiences.
Following this, the group played a featured set at the 88Rising Head in the Clouds Festival at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena last year. This performance closely followed the release of their album God_i and its lead single of the same name, which was produced by Yuta Kishi and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart.
Number_i has achieved considerable success domestically, with multiple No. 1 hits on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart. Their debut full-length album, No. I, also topped the Billboard Japan JP Albums chart and debuted at No. 4 on Spotify's Top Albums Debut Global chart, showcasing their growing international appeal.
In an interview last year, member Sho Hirano emphasized the group's belief in music transcending borders, stating, "We believe that music goes beyond borders, of course, and good music, good anything, can be understood and shared by people across the world." He added that the group is focused on creating music they believe in and enjoy, with hopes of sharing it with an ever-expanding audience.
The trio continues to be managed in Japan by the entertainment agency TOBE, which supports their activities and growth within the Japanese market alongside their international ventures.
With the backing of Atlantic Records and global representation from WME, Number_i is poised to make a significant impact in the U.S. music industry in the coming months as they release new music and continue to build their international fanbase.
