AceShowbiz - Number_i's hit single 3XL has reclaimed the No. 1 position on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart, as announced on May 6. This marks a significant return to the top after its initial debut, driven by the recent physical release of the single.
The track, which is the lead song from the group's third single and produced by member Sho Hirano, first debuted at No. 1 on the Japan Hot 100 dated February 4. This chart reflected data from the week of January 26 to February 1, following the digital pre-release on January 26. After the physical CD release on April 27, 3XL surged back to the top spot, selling 383,373 copies during that tracking week.
In addition to topping the overall chart, 3XL secured the No. 2 position for physical sales, No. 1 for digital downloads, No. 10 for streaming, No. 2 for radio airplay, and No. 24 for video views. This multi-format strength highlights the song’s broad appeal across different consumption methods.
Following closely at No. 2 is Snow Man's BANG!!, the theme song for the film SAKAMOTO DAYS, which stars group member Ren Meguro. The single dominated physical sales with an impressive 932,321 CDs sold during the week. It also ranked No. 8 in video views.
At No. 3 is the title track from ONE N' ONLY's second major-label single, WARAiNA, which sold 229,859 copies and landed at No. 50 on streaming charts. Meanwhile, Mrs. GREEN APPLE's Kaze to Machi dropped two spots to No. 4 on the Hot 100, but it continues to perform strongly with No. 4 in downloads, No. 8 in streaming, No. 6 in video, and it remains No. 1 on the radio airplay chart for a second consecutive week.
The chart also welcomed a new entry at No. 5: SHOW-WA & MATSURI's collaborative single June Bride. Dedicated to revitalizing Japan’s Showa-era kayokyoku style for modern listeners, this release sold 168,472 copies, placing it No. 4 for sales. The track achieved No. 89 for downloads and No. 46 for radio airplay.
Another notable highlight is the group M!LK, which had three songs simultaneously ranked in the top 10 of the streaming chart. Their tracks Bakuretsu Aishiteru, Sukisugite Metsu!, and Idol Power secured the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 spots respectively. This achievement marks the first time a domestic dance-and-vocal act has placed three or more songs in the streaming top 10 at once.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 compiles rankings based on a combination of physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views, and karaoke data, providing a comprehensive view of a song’s popularity across multiple platforms.
