AceShowbiz - Martin Scorsese and Oscar Isaac are joining forces for a new high-stakes drama series set in the world of Las Vegas casinos. Following the release of Oscar Isaac's acclaimed work in Beef season 2, he is returning to Netflix to star in and executive-produce an upcoming eight-episode series centered on the intense and ruthless casino industry in present-day Las Vegas.
Oscar Isaac will portray Robert "Bobby Red" Redman, the president of the city’s most successful hotel casino. The character must navigate the cutthroat environment of Las Vegas, making daring moves to maintain and expand his influence in the competitive market. The drama promises to delve into a modernized yet perilous version of the iconic gambling city.
The series is still untitled and is being developed by showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who also serve as writers and executive producers. Known for their expertise in gambling-related storytelling, Koppelman and Levien launched their careers with the cult poker film Rounders (1998) and later wrote the Las Vegas-set heist film Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). Their involvement adds substantial weight to the project’s strong gambling theme.
Martin Scorsese is executive producing the series, bringing his unparalleled experience with casino and gambling stories. He famously directed the classic 1995 film Casino, which captured the intensity of the Las Vegas gambling world, and also executive-produced HBO’s critically praised gambling drama Boardwalk Empire (2010-2014), set in Atlantic City, a city often compared to Las Vegas on the East Coast.
In addition to producing this series, Martin Scorsese also executive-produced Paul Schrader’s 2021 film The Card Counter, which featured Oscar Isaac as a gambler based in Atlantic City. This ongoing collaboration between Scorsese and Isaac highlights their shared interest in complex gambling narratives.
Oscar Isaac's participation in this Las Vegas series is part of a broader creative deal with Netflix. This agreement grants Netflix first-look access to film and television projects developed by Isaac, his partner Elvira Lind, and Gena Konstantinakos’ production company, Mad Gene. Recently, Isaac has appeared in Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning adaptation of Frankenstein (2025), the Emmy-winning anthology series Beef, and the ensemble heist film Triple Frontier. He is also set to star alongside Martin Scorsese in Julian Schnabel’s upcoming Netflix film In the Hand of Dante, scheduled for release later this year.
Additional executive producers on the casino series include Sikelia Productions, Julie Yorn, Rick Yorn for Expanded Media, Paul Schiff, Beth Schacter, and co-executive producer Kerry Orent. Notably, J.C. Chandor, who previously directed Oscar Isaac in A Most Violent Year (2014) and Triple Frontier (2019), will direct the first two episodes, further strengthening the creative team behind the project.
As production moves forward, fans of Martin Scorsese and Oscar Isaac should keep an eye out for updates on this untitled series, which promises to deliver a gripping look at the high-risk, high-reward world of Las Vegas casinos through the lens of some of the industry’s most respected talents.
