AceShowbiz - King Snake is set to be distributed theatrically across the United States by Neon, which has acquired the U.S. rights to this upcoming Southern gothic horror film from director Jeff Nichols.

The story centers on a young couple, portrayed by Margaret Qualley and Drew Starkey, who inherit a farm in Arkansas. As they settle into their new home, they confront a series of real-world challenges intertwined with supernatural threats. The narrative explores their struggle against both physical dangers and metaphysical forces, all while uncovering the sinister history tied to the property.

Michael Shannon also stars in the film, which adds further depth to the cast. The project is backed by FilmNation Entertainment, which provided financing and is managing worldwide sales for the film.

The production is a collaboration between Nichols and his Tri-State Pictures partners, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sarah Green, with involvement from Range Media Partners. Executive producers include FilmNation’s Stacey Snider and Glen Basner. The deal to bring King Snake to U.S. theaters was successfully negotiated by Neon in partnership with FilmNation Entertainment and Range Media Partners, representing the filmmakers’ interests.

Filming began this month in Arkansas, marking the start of production. Industry publication Variety was the first to report on Neon’s acquisition of King Snake, highlighting the anticipation surrounding Nichols’ latest work.
