AceShowbiz - Princess Diana will be heard like never before in a forthcoming docuseries unveiling previously undisclosed audio recordings. These tapes capture intimate conversations in which she discusses her complex relationship with the British Crown and offers candid reflections on her life.
The project, titled Diana: The Unheard Truth (working title), is a collaboration between executive producers Kerene Barefield and Naveed Chowdhary-Flatt under Love Monday TV and 53 Degrees Global, known for their work on The Royal House of Windsor. This new series aims to shed light on Princess Diana’s personal narrative through audio recordings made in 1991.
During her lifetime, Princess Diana shared her story openly only once through secret taped conversations with her close confidant James Colthurst. These recordings were crucial to Andrew Morton’s bestselling biography Diana: Her True Story. Now, decades after her passing in 1997, Love Monday TV has partnered with both Morton and Colthurst to obtain full and exclusive access to these original tapes.
The series will feature five hours of never-before-heard audio, organized into three episodes. According to Love Monday TV, the revelations contained within these recordings promise to "change public perception of Diana forever." The tapes reveal her experiences coping with intense public scrutiny, her aspirations for the future, and her acceptance of a new chapter where Charles marries Camilla, allowing her to "carve her own path."
Diana reportedly foresaw many developments with striking accuracy, including her complex relationships with key figures like Charles, Camilla, and her sons William and Harry. The tapes also touch on her views about Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, reflecting on events that unfolded in subsequent years.
The series is being edited by Sophie Todd with Emily Hirst producing and Justin Frahm serving as director of photography. Funding comes from Rainmaker Films, led by Clay Pecorin, Russell Geyser, and Zak Tanjeloff, alongside Plymouth Films represented by Kevin Weisberg.
Currently, Diana: The Unheard Truth has no confirmed distribution platform and is being presented to networks and streaming services worldwide. This docuseries promises to offer a fresh and intimate perspective on one of the most iconic and beloved figures in modern history.
