AceShowbiz - Netflix has officially greenlit Dad's House, an adult animated comedy series that promises a fresh take on suburban Australian life. The show is executive produced and showrun by Michael Cusack (known for Smiling Friends and YOLO), Dario Russo (who worked on Danger 5 and Italian Spiderman), and David Ashby (also from Danger 5 and Italian Spiderman).
In addition to their producing and showrunner roles, Cusack, Russo, and Ashby provide voices in the series. They are joined by comedian Felicity Ward, recognized for her roles in The Office, Wakefield, and The Inbetweeners 2. The production is a collaboration between Princess Studios and Bento Box Entertainment.
Dad's House centers on 13-year-old Sean, who navigates life through the lens of spending every other weekend with his easygoing but often clumsy dad, Ian, in a small Australian suburb. The show explores the challenges of packing meaningful father-son moments into limited time, highlighting Ian’s unique talent for complicating what should be simple quality time.
The series joins Netflix’s expanding lineup of adult animated comedies, which includes upcoming shows like Mating Season, Dang!, Alley Cats, and the second season of Haunted Hotel. It also complements critically praised series such as Long Story Short, which has been renewed for a second season, alongside popular favorites Big Mouth and BoJack Horseman.
Representation for the key creative figures includes UTA and JSSK for Cusack, and UTA for both Russo and Ashby. Dad's House is set to add a distinctively Australian flavor to Netflix’s adult animation roster, blending humor with heartfelt family dynamics.
