AceShowbiz - Netflix has officially announced the cast for the upcoming series adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel The Woods. Leading the ensemble are Tom Bateman, known for roles in The Love Hypothesis and Hedda, who will portray Paul "Cope" Copeland, and Michelle Keegan, who previously starred in the Coben Netflix hit Fool Me Once, taking on the role of Lucy Silverfield.
This series marks the 14th collaboration between Harlan Coben and Netflix, continuing their strong partnership in delivering gripping thriller content. Coben is deeply involved in the production as an executive producer through his company, Final Twist Productions. Danny Brocklehurst serves as the lead writer and also holds an executive producer credit. Production is handled by Quay Street Productions, with Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee also acting as executive producers.
The cast extends to include a diverse group of accomplished actors: Mandeep Dhillon (MobLand, After Life), Pearce Quigley (Small Prophets, The Gentlemen), Rade Sherbedgia (Slow Horses, Downton Abbey), James Buckley (The Inbetweeners, White Gold), Shannon Watson (Outrageous, The Jetty), Pamela Nomvete (Nightsleeper, Andor), Amelia Eve (Bly Manor, Leopard Skin), Kerry Howard (Witless, Him and Her), Roger Barclay (Industry, Andor), Simon Lowe (Kirkmoore, Miss Scarlet and the Duke), Dean Fagan (Time, Missed Call), Tom Allen (Titanique, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Run Away, Friday Night Dinner), Charlotte Beaumont (Broadchurch, Call the Midwife), and Christopher Harper (Call the Midwife, Endeavour).
The Woods centers on Paul "Cope" Copeland, whose sister Camille mysteriously disappeared from a summer camp in the woods two decades ago, an event that shattered his family. Now a successful barrister and single father to a 10-year-old daughter named Cami, Cope appears to have rebuilt his life. However, when the body of a man is discovered 20 years after his presumed murder alongside Camille, Cope becomes convinced that his sister may still be alive.
Determined to uncover the truth, Cope reconnects with his first love, Lucy Silverfield, and together they embark on a search that exposes years of deception, cover-ups, and family secrets threatening to unravel everything Cope has worked to restore.
The series will be presented across eight episodes and features the direction of Andy De Emmony (The Feud, Vigil), Claire Tailyour (The Blame, Beyond Paradise), and Isher Sahota (Run Away, Ridley).
Harlan Coben described The Woods as "a haunting and very personal story." He emphasized that the series contains the classic elements fans expect—twists, turns, and shocking moments—but at its heart, it also explores themes of old love and yearning. He praised the cast, calling it "an embarrassment of riches," highlighting the talents of Tom Bateman, Michelle Keegan, Mandeep Dhillon, Pearce Quigley, James Buckley, and Tom Allen.
Lead writer and executive producer Danny Brocklehurst expressed enthusiasm about the project, calling it "a great pleasure to be working with Netflix on another twisty emotional thriller." He noted the joy of reuniting with Michelle Keegan and praised the assembled cast for their exceptional talent.
As anticipation builds for the release of The Woods, Netflix continues to strengthen its slate of original thriller series, with this adaptation poised to deliver the engaging, suspenseful storytelling fans of Harlan Coben’s work have come to expect.
