- April 29, 2026
AceShowbiz - The fourth season of Love on the Spectrum premiered on Netflix earlier this month, marking a significant milestone for Madison Marilla and Tyler White as they publicly announced their engagement for the first time.
The couple originally met during the junior edition of the Emmy Award-winning reality series, and season four highlighted their journey as they celebrated their first year together. While Madison initially suspected Tyler might propose earlier in the season, the heartfelt moment occurred in episode six when Tyler proposed, and Madison said yes.
Tyler had written a touching letter to Madison before popping the question, which she reveals to The Hollywood Reporter was when she realized the proposal was imminent.
"I started crying tears of happiness," Madison shares about reading the letter, "and the more I read, the more I realized, This is really happening."
With season five of Love on the Spectrum already in production, their upcoming wedding could become the first ceremony ever filmed for the American version of the series. When asked if the wedding will be featured on the show, Tyler coyly replies, "You'll have to find out."
Below, Madison and Tyler open up about their experience on the series, the challenges of keeping their engagement a secret, and their future plans including wedding preparations and career goals.
Madison, Tyler, when you first joined the cast of Love on the Spectrum, did you imagine finding love and touching so many hearts?
Madison: Absolutely. Interestingly, I had a dream back in high school about dating a country boy, so it was a bit ironic when it actually happened.
Tyler: I came across an ad while promoting my DJ services for a Chris Stapleton concert in Tampa. It was a call for a guy to date a girl on the spectrum in Tampa/St. Pete. I had always prayed to find love with someone on the spectrum, so I applied. They liked my submission, and the rest is history.
Your engagement was an emotional highlight of season four. Tyler, how did you feel preparing to propose?
Tyler: I was probably the most nervous I’ve ever been. I was shaking so much that day. But when Madison said yes, it was the happiest moment of my life. Normally, I’m loud and energetic when happy, but that day, I just cried, knowing my prayer had been answered.
Madison: It’s true. At church, Tyler is usually the one cheering loudly, and I’m the one tearing up when excited.
Madison, when you read Tyler’s note, was that the moment you knew he was going to propose?
Madison: Yes. I cried tears of joy while reading it, and the more I read, the more I realized this was really happening.
Was keeping your engagement a secret difficult? How does it feel to finally share it openly?
Madison: It felt amazing to finally talk about it. I have a terrible poker face, so it was hard to keep quiet, especially for nine months. Now, I’m thrilled to share it with everyone.
Tyler: I understand the nature of TV production, but keeping it secret was tough. I’m relieved it’s out in the open now.
How was it to watch your engagement moment back on screen?
Tyler: I still get emotional watching it.
Madison: Yes, it makes me very happy to re-watch it repeatedly.
Madison, you mentioned wanting to appear on Say Yes to the Dress. Have you been in contact with Kleinfeld since the season aired?
Madison: Randy Fanoli reached out recently, which made me so happy I cried tears of joy and screamed. I might visit Kleinfeld soon — you never know!
How is wedding planning progressing so far?
Madison: We’re just getting started since we had to keep everything under wraps for so long.
Tyler: We kept it secret because of the show and because I’m focusing on my music career. I’m currently in Nashville at Bradley’s Barn in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, working on writing and recording. The place combines my interests in NASCAR and country music. Once the timing is right, we’ll set a wedding date.
Would you consider filming your wedding for Love on the Spectrum?
Tyler: You’ll have to find out.
Madison: Yes, you never know. You’ll have to watch!
Your stories have inspired many in the autism community. What advice would you give to those on the spectrum?
Madison: Autism is a journey, not a disorder. It shapes who you are and brings many gifts. Without autism, I wouldn’t have the detailed knowledge I do about Disney, American Girl dolls, jewelry making, sewing, languages, presidents, states, or my exceptional memory. I can recall names and places from my childhood vividly.
Tyler: I feel the same. My autism has given me perfect pitch and a deep knowledge of NASCAR and football. With hard work, determination, a positive attitude, and faith, anyone can overcome obstacles. Love is absolutely possible on the spectrum — pun intended.
If someone on the spectrum asked if they should join the show, what would you say?
Madison: Yes. It’s a great experience.
The journey of Madison and Tyler on Love on the Spectrum continues to touch hearts and inspire, as they prepare to embark on new chapters in their lives together.
