The Harlem rapper explained that the situation began when he noticed a price discrepancy on a set of locks, which was marked at $78 but was allegedly incorrect. According to Jones, when he attempted to clarify the pricing with a store manager, the manager refused to honor the displayed price.
Rather than resolving the issue, the manager accused Jones of deliberately swapping the price tag himself. This accusation, made in front of other customers, greatly upset the rapper. Despite feeling provoked, Jones said he controlled his initial reaction, recognizing that reacting angrily would not help the situation.
"My first thought was to crash but I've learned I can't handle every situation with that mentality because it turns me being right into a wrong due to the way I react," Jones explained in his post.
The conflict escalated when the manager instructed Jones to leave the premises and then proceeded to call the police. The rapper believes this move was an intimidation tactic aimed at deflecting blame from the store’s pricing error.
"I was rudely told to get out and they called the cops on me all because I knew I was right and they knew they was wrong so to hide it or scare me they tried to call the police," Jones said.
In the latter portion of his message, Jones directed his frustration toward Lowe’s corporate leadership, urging them to improve the customer service training provided to store managers. He implied that better training could have prevented the entire conflict from unfolding.
The rapper’s comments also reflect his consistent emphasis on respect within the industry, indicating that he did not want another negative headline associated with his name—especially over a dispute at a hardware store.
As of Monday morning, Lowe’s has not issued any public statements addressing the allegations raised by Jones in his Instagram post on Sunday.
