AceShowbiz - Industry Season 4 explores the dramatic downfall of Tender, an online banking app exposed as a Russian-backed scheme. This financial disaster rocks the series’ political and personal landscapes, affecting characters such as Labour party leaders Lisa Dearn (Chloe Pirrie) and Jennifer Bevan (Amy James-Kelly), as well as Lord Henry Muck (Kit Harington) and his complicated marriage to Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela).
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Industry Season 4 Episode 8 “Both, And,” currently streaming on HBO Max.
As Yasmin's life unravels, she resorts to desperate measures to maintain her influence and survival. In a chilling turn, she aligns herself with a far-right faction that includes Austrian Nazis introduced earlier in the season, and the rising UK political figure Sebastian Stefanowicz, played by Edward Holcroft. Yasmin’s shift marks a dark new chapter in the series, as she starts facilitating connections between wealthy foreign donors and this extremist group.
In the episode “Both, And,” Yasmin invites Harper Stern (Myha’la) to a gathering in Paris. Harper soon realizes this is no ordinary party but a covert meeting of powerful elites aiming to back Stefanowicz’s far-right vision for Europe. Harper’s discomfort with Yasmin’s new role as a recruiter for these donors highlights the growing tension between characters.
Marisa Abela, who plays Yasmin, described her character as an “agent of chaos” willing to forge alliances with powerful people when faced with adversity. She explained, “If you can’t beat them, join them. Or in her case, try to get them to love something only you can offer.”
HBO has confirmed that Industry will return for a fifth and final season. The events of the Season 4 finale hint at a looming confrontation between Harper Stern’s rise in finance and Yasmin’s entanglement with far-right politics. Sebastian Stefanowicz’s role is expected to expand, setting up a significant villain arc.
So, who exactly is Sebastian Stefanowicz? We first meet him in the Season 4 premiere as the Member of Parliament for South Thanet, a real constituency in Kent. Stefanowicz represents the far-right Reform UK party, which also exists in reality. Initially depicted as a direct opponent to Labour MP Jennifer Bevan, his main campaign focus is defending constituents who post “truths” on X (formerly Twitter).
Stefanowicz reappears in Episode 7, where he mockingly taunts Labour secretary Lisa Dearn about the Tender scandal. Dearn fires back by labeling his supporters as “Andrew Tate clones and Russian bots,” highlighting the toxicity of his base.
By the Season 4 finale, Stefanowicz has become closely allied with Yasmin. During a party, although he mentions leaving early for his child’s first communion, he remains notably connected to her and is distracted by Hayley (Kiernan Shipka). The gathering is portrayed as a hub for far-right extremists, with Stefanowicz positioned as their hopeful figurehead to mainstream their racist agenda. He admits to Harper Stern that while he doesn’t endorse everyone’s views in the room and can't control their thoughts, he still accepts their financial support.
Harper’s unease toward Stefanowicz’s rising influence is palpable and serves as a warning to viewers about the threat he poses. If Harper fears his ascent, it signals a significant challenge ahead for the protagonists.
Sebastian Stefanowicz is portrayed by Edward Holcroft. Holcroft is known for his roles in series like London Spy, Wolf Hall, The English Game, and Alias Grace. He also appeared alongside Industry star Kit Harington in HBO’s Gunpowder.
With the upcoming fifth season, it seems clear that Stefanowicz will be a central antagonist, embodying the dangerous far-right forces clashing with the show's financial and political protagonists. His character’s development promises to deepen the show's exploration of power, ideology, and survival in a turbulent world.
