Godzilla’s Eastern & Western universes may collide as a legendary villain teases a role in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.

AceShowbiz - When discussing Godzilla, fans often notice a dynamic competition between Eastern and Western interpretations of the iconic King of the Monsters. In the United States, Legendary’s MonsterVerse has produced multiple films and a television series centered on this colossal creature. Meanwhile, Toho is preparing to launch its own ambitious project called "Godzilla World," a fresh cinematic universe devoted to the lizard king’s legacy.
Recently, anticipation has grown around a possible convergence of these two distinct Godzilla universes. An upcoming event has sparked speculation that a notorious villain may play a significant role in the continuing saga, especially regarding the next installment, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
This summer, the Godzilla Expo is scheduled to return to Fukuoka, Japan, running from Thursday, June 4th, to Monday, June 22nd, 2026. Along with the event confirmation, a new promotional poster was unveiled, showcasing various renditions of the King of the Monsters. Notably, two villainous kaiju silhouettes dominate the imagery: the mechanical Moguera and the extraterrestrial menace known as Spacegodzilla.
Online rumors have been gaining traction that Spacegodzilla might emerge as the primary antagonist in the third crossover film of the Godzilla x Kong series. Supporting these whispers, trademarks have reportedly been filed, hinting at the potential arrival of this alien doppelganger in the MonsterVerse’s latest chapter.
To provide some background, Spacegodzilla originally debuted in the 1994 Japanese film Godzilla Vs. Spacegodzilla. The sinister creature was born after Godzilla’s cells were exposed to the radiation emitted by a black hole, resulting in an alien-powered adversary making its way to Earth. Coincidentally, the same film introduced Moguera, a government-created mechanical kaiju intended as a successor to Mechagodzilla.
While Moguera’s involvement in the upcoming Legendary film has not been officially confirmed, it seems plausible that this robotic monster could appear alongside Spacegodzilla, potentially sporting a redesigned appearance for modern audiences.
Regarding the upcoming Godzilla Expo, Toho has provided the following description: “Due to overwhelming demand, the Godzilla Expo will be held again as ‘Godzilla Expo in Fukuoka’ from Thursday, June 4th to Monday, June 22nd, 2026 at the event space on the 8th floor of the main building of Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin Store. Information will be updated regularly! Please look forward to further updates.”
As of now, there has been no announcement about a similar event occurring in North America. However, given Toho’s recent efforts to amplify Godzilla’s global influence, it remains a possibility that future Godzilla Expo events could embark on a worldwide tour.
This development signals exciting prospects for Godzilla fans eager to see how the MonsterVerse evolves and which adversaries it will feature next. The potential inclusion of Spacegodzilla and Moguera would not only deepen the lore but also create new opportunities for epic battles between the iconic monsters.
