AceShowbiz - Netflix is currently producing a new live-action series titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, which will chronicle the beginnings of the iconic Mystery Inc. gang. The streaming giant confirmed the series’ official name and shared the first image featuring the four main young actors in costume.

The leads include Tanner Hagen, known for The Pitt, as Shaggy Rogers; McKenna Grace from Young Sheldon as Daphne Blake; Abby Ryder Fortson, also from The Pitt, portraying Velma Dinkley; and Maxwell Jenkins of The Bondsman as Fred Jones. While the Great Dane Scooby-Doo himself has not yet been unveiled, the cast photo notably includes a paw print, hinting at the dog’s imminent appearance.

Adding intrigue, Paul Walter Hauser from Cobra Kai has joined the cast in an unspecified role, broadening the ensemble of this fresh take on the beloved franchise.

According to Netflix, Scooby-Doo: Origins is a “modern reimagining” of the classic mystery-solving teenagers and their extraordinary canine companion. The story centers on their final summer at camp where Shaggy and Daphne, childhood friends, become involved in a chilling mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder.

They team up with Velma, a practical and scientific local girl, and Fred, an enigmatic but charismatic newcomer, to unravel a case that plunges them into a terrifying nightmare threatening to expose all their secrets. This fresh narrative aims to blend suspense, friendship, and supernatural elements.

The series is created by writers and showrunners Josh Applebaum and Scott Rosenberg, with executive producers including Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman from Berlanti Productions. Midnight Radio’s André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson also serve as executive producers. Toby Haynes is directing the first episode, adding his vision to the project’s launch.
