AceShowbiz - Snoop Dogg’s life is being adapted into a feature film scheduled for release in 2027. The announcement was made on April 15 during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where the iconic rapper confirmed that the biopic will be titled Snoop.
The film will star Jonathan Daviss, known for his role in Outer Banks, as the lead portraying the West Coast rap legend. Snoop Dogg emphasized that the movie will carry an R rating, aiming to capture the raw and authentic essence of his story. “If we are going to do a Snoop Dogg movie, I gotta get gangsta with it,” he told the audience.
Production details reveal that Brian Grazer will produce the film, while Craig Brewer will direct. Grazer is notable for producing the 2002 Eminem biopic 8 Mile, which won an Oscar for Best Original Song with “Lose Yourself” in 2003. Brewer’s previous work includes the critically acclaimed 2005 film Hustle & Flow, which earned a Best Original Song Oscar for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” in 2006.
In a June 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Snoop Dogg explained his choice of Daviss for the role, praising the actor’s talent and spirit. “Jonathan is the whole thing. He’s a dynamic actor. He’s a great spirit and he’s a learner. He’s able to take things and make it better,” Snoop shared.
Universal Entertainment will handle the production and distribution of the biopic, aiming to bring a compelling and true-to-life portrayal of Snoop Dogg’s journey to audiences worldwide. Fans can expect an unfiltered glimpse into the life of the rap icon when Snoop hits theaters in 2027.
