AceShowbiz - The latest episode of The Masked Singer Season 14 brought an electrifying Ozzfest Night theme, featuring performances inspired by the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. After last week’s elimination of Snowcone, whose true identity was reality star Heidi Montague, four remaining contestants—Eggplant, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, and Pangolin—battled for a place in the following round.
The panel for this episode included familiar faces such as Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Ozzy Osbourne and former contestant on the show, alongside Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. The show was once again hosted by Nick Cannon.
The episode opened with a rousing group performance of "Crazy Train," setting the tone for the Ozzfest tribute. Each contestant then performed individually, bringing their own flair to iconic rock and metal hits.
High Voltage kicked off the individual performances with "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. Clues about this contestant included a background of listening to Ozzy, having a band of brothers, and the concept of "jam" and "bandwagon." The performance was solid but somewhat muted, concluding with a classic guitar smash. Guesses from the panel varied widely: Ken Jeong guessed Billie Joe Armstrong, Kelly Osbourne opted for Tim Allen, and Rita Ora suggested John Resnick from the Goo Goo Dolls. The audience, however, disapproved of Ken’s guess.
Next up was Galaxy Girl, who chose "Drive" by Incubus. Her vocal delivery was smooth but didn’t quite capture the song’s original energy. Clues hinted that her first concert was Lilith Fair, she had been shy about singing publicly, and she earned a "halo" over her lifetime. Panelists speculated wildly, with Kelly Osbourne confidently guessing Ashley Simpson, then Kate Hudson when her phone rang during the show. Ken Jeong cheekily guessed Gwen Stefani, which was quickly dismissed.
Eggplant took the stage with "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park, a challenging nu-metal track. Despite the high energy of the song, Eggplant’s performance was noticeably off-key and lacked the expected rock intensity. Clues indicated Ozzy as an inspiration and a past marked by wildness now tempered by calm. Onstage hints included a "classic guitar" and a guitar named after him. Panel guesses included Jenny McCarthy choosing Kevin Cronin, Ken Jeong picking Rick Springfield, and Kelly Osbourne suggesting Richie Sambora or Alice Cooper, with Alice ruled out.
Finally, Pangolin performed "Mama I’m Coming Home" by Ozzy Osbourne, delivering the strongest vocal showing of the night. Her beautiful tone and impressive upper register moved the panel, especially Kelly Osbourne. Clues revealed she was a wildcard who had to stand up for herself, lived in a van at one point, and referenced a "tip jar" and the number 1,000. She reassured Kelly by saying, "you are not alone." Onstage hints included a "diamond," symbolizing a major milestone. Guesses included Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg naming Christina Perri, Kelly Osbourne suggesting Vanessa Carlton, and Robin Thicke opting for Michelle Branch.
After all performances, the audience and panel voted to determine which contestants would advance. The top two vote-getters were Pangolin and Galaxy Girl, securing their spots in the next round. The remaining two, High Voltage and Eggplant, faced off in the Ozzfest Royale sing-off, performing "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath.
During the sing-off, Eggplant attempted a British accent but failed to impress, while High Voltage delivered a stronger performance despite also employing a fake accent. Ultimately, the judges selected High Voltage as the winner of the Ozzfest Royale, allowing that contestant to advance, while Eggplant was eliminated and unmasked.
The panel’s final guesses for Eggplant were varied: Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg guessed Kevin Cronin, Ken Jeong guessed Rick Springfield (very close), Rita Ora chose Nathan Lane, Robin Thicke went with Kenny Loggins, and Kelly Osbourne guessed Alice Cooper. The true identity of Eggplant was revealed to be soap opera star Jack Wagner, known for his roles on "General Hospital" and "Melrose Place," as well as his singing career. Jack Wagner expressed enjoyment portraying Eggplant and bid farewell with a rendition of "Rocket Man."
This Ozzfest-themed episode provided fans with energetic tributes, surprising clues, and a heartfelt unmasking, continuing the excitement of The Masked Singer Season 14.
